Platform agreement
Jake Morrison Training & Consultancy e-learning platform
This agreement explains how the platform is used, what information is collected, and how learner records are managed.
Summary
Agreement summary
By creating an account or using this platform, you agree to use it for the training course or learning activity you have been given access to. You also acknowledge that we will process the information needed to provide your account, track your progress, issue completion records, and keep the platform secure.
If your access has been arranged by your employer or sponsoring organisation, they may receive agreed completion information, such as whether you have started or completed the course.
Who operates this platform
This platform is operated by Jake Morrison, trading as Jake Morrison Training & Consultancy.
For questions about this agreement, your account, or your personal data, contact info@jakemorrison.co.uk.
Our role
We may act as a data controller for your platform account, training records, certificates, and communications with you.
Where your employer or sponsoring organisation has commissioned the training, we may also act as a data processor for agreed learning progress information processed on their behalf.
What data we collect when you register
When you create an account, we collect the information needed to identify you and manage your access. This usually includes your first name, last name, email address, username, organisation if provided, and authentication method. Your email address is used as your main point of contact for course-related communications.
What data we collect as you learn
As you use the platform, we record information needed to deliver the course and confirm completion. This may include course enrolments, access dates, course progress, quiz attempts, scores, completion status, and certificate records.
Where a certificate is generated, it may include your name, course title, completion date, and any relevant certification details. Certificates are stored on the platform so they can be accessed or reissued where appropriate.
Technical and security information
The platform may record technical information such as login activity, IP address, browser details, device information, failed login attempts, and system logs. This information is used to maintain platform security, investigate errors, protect accounts, and prevent unauthorised access.
Why we process your data
We process your data so that we can provide access to training, manage your account, record learning progress, issue completion records, provide learner support, and keep the platform secure.
Our lawful bases under UK data protection law may include contract, where processing is needed to provide the training service; legitimate interests, where processing is needed to administer training records and maintain platform security; and legal obligation, where we are required to keep or disclose certain records.
Hosting and service providers
The platform is hosted on a Virtual Private Server provided by Hostinger. Platform data is processed through the systems required to operate the Moodle site securely.
We may use trusted service providers to operate the platform, provide email, manage authentication, maintain security, and support course delivery.
If you choose to log in using Google or Microsoft, those providers authenticate your identity. They do not receive your course progress, quiz scores, or certificate records from us as part of that login process.
AI-assisted features
This platform does not use AI-assisted features to make decisions about learners.
If AI-assisted Moodle features are enabled in future, they will only be used where clearly stated, and this agreement will be updated before personal data is processed through any external AI provider.
Cookies
This platform uses cookies that are necessary for Moodle to function, including session cookies that keep you logged in and support platform security. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or behavioural tracking cookies on this platform.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data.
We may share limited completion information with the organisation that commissioned or sponsored your training, where this has been agreed. This may include whether you have started, completed, or not completed a course.
Where a course is externally accredited or requires certification by an awarding body, we may share the information needed to confirm completion, issue certificates, or meet accreditation requirements.
How long we keep your data
We normally retain account and completion records for up to 3 years from your last platform activity, so that training records and certificates can be checked or reissued.
Some records may be kept for longer where required for legal, contractual, safeguarding, insurance, dispute resolution, or awarding-body reasons.
Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect platform data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. This includes access controls, secure authentication, system updates, backups, and monitoring of platform security.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you may have the right to access your personal data, request correction, request deletion, restrict processing, object to certain processing, and raise a concern about how your data is used.
To make a request, contact info@jakemorrison.co.uk. You can also contact the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Learner responsibilities
You agree to use the platform only for your own learning. You must not share your login details, access another person’s account, copy restricted course materials, interfere with platform security, or use the platform in a way that could harm other users or the service.
If you believe your account has been accessed without permission, contact us as soon as possible.
Changes to this agreement
We may update this agreement when the platform, law, service providers, or training arrangements change. Where a material change affects how your personal data is used, we will provide updated information before the new processing starts where required.
By selecting I agree to the Platform Agreement, you confirm that you have read and understood this agreement and agree to use the platform in line with these terms.
